9月17日は「世界患者安全の日」です（厚労省）

令和6年9月17日は、「世界患者安全の日（World Patient Safety Day）」です。これは、患者の安全を確保するために世界保健機関（WHO）が制定した国際的な記念日で、2019年に始まりました。この日は、医療制度を利用する全ての人々のリスクを軽減し、患者安全に対する意識を高めることを目的としています。各国で様々な啓発活動が行われ、国際的な理解と連携を深めるための取り組みが推進されています。

WHOは毎年、「患者安全の日」のテーマとスローガンを設定し、普及活動を行っています。2024年度のテーマは「患者の安全のための診断の向上（Improving diagnosis for patient safety）」で、スローガンは「正確に、そして安全に！（Get it right, make it safe!）」です。このスローガンは、正確な診断が患者安全の基盤であることを強調しています。

厚生労働省もこの取り組みに積極的に参加しています。2001年から「患者安全推進年」として、医療安全対策を総合的に推進しています。その一環として、毎年11月25日を含む一週間を「医療安全推進週間」と定め、医療機関や関連団体と協力して様々な活動を行っています。また、2019年のWHO総会で「世界患者安全の日」が制定された後も、毎年9月17日に多くの団体と協力して普及啓発活動を実施しています。

このような取り組みは、医療現場における患者の安全を守るために非常に重要です。医療関係者、患者、そして社会全体が協力し合うことで、安全な医療環境を築き上げることができます。特に今年のテーマである「診断の向上」は、医療の質を向上させ、患者のリスクを最小限に抑えるために欠かせない要素です。

医療機関では、診断の精度を高めるために様々な取り組みが行われています。例えば、新しい技術や診断機器の導入、医療従事者の教育や研修の充実、患者とのコミュニケーションの強化などが挙げられます。これらの取り組みを通じて、患者が安心して医療を受けられる環境を整えることが目指されています。
